Oman aviation: Fog at Dubai Airport delays Muscat flights

Muscat: Heavy fog in Dubai has delayed flights, including from Muscat, airline officials said.
Officials from flydubai and Air Arabia in Muscat said that fog in Dubai has delayed arrivals there.
Dubai Airport has announced on its official website that heavy fog is disrupting operations this morning at Dubai International resulting in delays of up to an hour on arriving and departing flights.
“Dubai Airports is working with airlines, air traffic control and control authorities to minimise customer inconvenience,” the announcement added.
Meanwhile, the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) has issued a warning for residents to be careful while driving, as visibility was reduced to less than 50 meters across coastal and internal areas of the country and the highways.
Ninu Mohandas, a Dubai resident, told Times of Oman that a heavy blanket of fog caused major tailbacks on the roads.
“It’s shivering cold and the visibility on the roads is too low,” Ninu added.
Dubai media reports say that the heavy blanket of fog caused major tailbacks on roads leaving motorists with little patience by the end of their commute.
The NCMS’s forecast expects Thursday to be the same, with thick fog and mist in the morning, and light to moderate winds.
The relative humidity is likely to increase during Wednesday night and early tomorrow morning, with temperatures ranging from 14 to 31 degrees Celsius in coastal areas, and from 10 to 34 degrees Celsius in internal areas.
Flightradar, a twitter account that live-tweets air traffic movement, says that due to limited visibility in Dubai, average arrival delays are now over one hour and departure delays are approaching 50 minutes.
