Oman Cricket: Indian coach Rajkumar sees potential in Bosher Olympic Centre trainees

Muscat: Famous Indian cricket coach Rajkumar Sharma was impressed with the enthusiasm shown by the trainees at the Bosher Olympic Centre (BOC) during coaching camps organised in various venues in Muscat.
Rajkumar Sharma, who had coached Indian Test team captain and batting sensation Virat Kohli, arrived here on an invitation from the BOC and conducted training sessions from December 22 and 26.
Speaking at the concluding ceremony, which was graced by Oman Cricket chairman Kanak Khimji, General Secretary Madhu Jesrani, board member Pankaj Khimji and Anil Khimji, coach Rajkumar said: “The trainees have shown tremendous interest. The children are very enthusiastic learners.”
The coach, who distributed the certificates to the participants, said: “They have good potential and are good prospects for the future. Now it is time to take their game forward.”
During the ceremony, Oman Cricket officials presented mementos to coach Rajkumar.
During the five-day period, Rajkumar conducted training sessions at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher, BOC Cricket Nets and Oman Cricket’s turf grounds in Al Amerat.
Lauds facilities
Meanwhile, BOC in a statement said: “Coach Rajkumar was delighted with the response to the camps and praised the facilities provided by BOC as world class.”
The BOC has in the past taken their trainees to several overseas camps but this time around preferred to invite a coach to Oman to conduct training sessions.
“Coach Rajkumar’s visit is part of our plans to bring high profile coaches from India to give training to maximum number of participants in Oman instead of taking a limited number of trainees to overseas camps,” the BOC statement said.
“This decision has benefited more number of participants and students of all ages have attended the camp. The camp has been a great success,” it added.
“The response has been tremendous. It encourages us to plan more such coaching camps and training sessions in the future,” the statement said.
