MUSCAT — Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) will launch the new Easy Learning Service tomorrow at a function to be held under the auspices of Hamad bin Khamis Al Amri, undersecretary for technical education and vocational training at the Ministry of Manpower.

The service, introduced for the first time ever in the Sultanate of Oman, will add a new dimension to the methods of learning in the country. Furthermore, it represents a qualitative addition to the leading services provided by Omantel in cooperation with several entities in order to guarantee the realisation of the objectives of the service.

The Easy Learning Service, provided by Omantel in cooperation with the Ministry of Manpower and Itisalat Academy of the United Arab Emirates, depends on the provision of electronic training courses through special cards, which will be available at Omantel outlets at minimal prices.

It will enable users to select the courses that suit their needs from among more than 450 courses in various specialisations including administrative sciences, accounting, marketing, sales, supervision skills, customer service and many others. Courses will be available for all segments of the society and for public and private sectors employees as well as students.

They qualify participants to obtain Vocational and Professional Approval Certificates from Omantel. It is worth noting that the Ministry of Manpower approves these certificates. Courses will also help develop participants’ skills in programming, information technology and e-government processes.

Easy Learning courses are specially designed for the Middle East in view of the special nature of the region. Omantel accords great importance to such courses as they offer high degree of flexibility for those who want to benefit from electronic learning. Users can select the topic and timing of the course as per their wishes.

This service, which represents an innovative and qualitative development in education in the Sultanate, will contribute to creating a new generation of information specialists to keep pace with the aspirations of the next phase of development.
