52,856 Omanis find job in private sector

MUSCAT — The number of Omanis employed in the private sector establishments during the first 10 months of this year stands at 52,856. Said bin Ali Al Alawi, head of employment department at the Ministry of Manpower, said they included 44,024 men and 8,832 women.

The number of candidates until October stood at 62,855 men and women, he pointed out.

Speaking to ONA, he said the number of degree holders employed in the private sector stood at 1,967, holders of diploma 1,754 and general certificate 19,799.

About 19,875 Omanis were employed in the contracting sector, 12,302 in the trade sector, 5,516 in the industrial sector, 4,726 in the real estate sector, 3,608 in the travel, tourism and services sector and 3,226 in the oil and gas sector, he added.

Al Alawi said a number of vacancies are available with the Manpower Ministry in economic and services sectors. Young Omanis who want to join the private sector may forward their applications to the labour offices across the Sultanate. He called upon Omani job-seekers to go through the local newspapers to find out job opportunities advertised by the Manpower Ministry at the private sector establishments.

The head of employment department at the Manpower Ministry appreciated cooperation and response of Omani private sector establishments with the ministry in terms of providing young Omanis employment opportunities in various economic sectors.
