Top town planning panel discusses Duqm projects

MUSCAT — The Supreme Committee for Town Planning held its third meeting of the year at the Finance Ministry here yesterday under the chairmanship of Ahmed bin Abdulnabi Macki, minister of national economy and deputy chairman of the Financial Affairs and Energy Resources Council and chairman of the Supreme Committee for Town Planning.

The committee discussed a number of topics on the agenda, such as memos and reports on investment projects planned to be set up in Al Duqm town, the offer submitted in respect of setting up relevant utilities for housing labourers, staff and visitors, during the construction of mega projects such as the dry dock and the international airport.

The committee also discussed a memo on industrial estates and free zone at Al Duqm area as well as offers submitted by some companies to undertake the study.

The committee decided to float a tender of the study project by the Tender Board, by direct practice among nine international firms.
