SUR | His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said Cups for the 25th Municipalities and Water Resources Month competition were presented to the winning wilayats at a ceremony here yesterday, under the auspices of His Highness Sayyid Talal bin Tariq bin Taimour Al Said.

This year, the competition is held under the theme ‘Continuous efforts and sustainable development’. The event was attended by ministers, members of the State Council and Majlis Al Shura, walis and citizens.

Folklore troupes and school students in the wilayat of Sur staged traditional dances on the occasion.

Following are the results:

The wilayat of Sur bagged the first prize, wilayat of Ibra came second, wilayat Al Khabourah third, wilayat of Bahla fourth, whereas the wilayat of Saham had to be content with the fifth prize.

All the wilayats received His Majesty the Sultan’s Cup. Other wilayats received the Ministry’s Cups and cash.

The wilayat of Al Mudhaibi won the first prize, wilayat of Diba came second, wilayat of Al Sinainah third, wilayat of Ibri fourth and the wilayat of Al Masa’nah ended fifth.

The wilayats of Adam, Jala’n Bani Bu Ali, Wadi Al Ma’wil and Haima received the ministry’s shield and cash prize.

The wilayat of Liwa was honoured for landscaping and development, the wilayat of Al Sinainah for water resources management and development, whereas the wilayat of Bidiyah was honoured for its awareness campaign.

Sheikh Ali bin Ahmed bin Mashari Al Shamsi, wali of Sur in his speech lauded the wilayat Sur for bagging the
prize.
