ROP ensures all help to Khareef visitors

MUSCAT: When the heat reaches uncomfortable levels in the Sultanate and the neighbouring countries, people take-off to Salalah or the ‘Bride of the Gulf’ as it is called. The Dhofar governorate turns into a green paradise during the peak summer season in Muscat.

Known for its tropical fruits like papaya, coconuts and bananas, Dhofar governorate has been receiving large turnout of visitors from Oman, GCC countries as well as other parts of the world.

For those who would travel to Salalah by car, the concerned authorities and Royal Oman Police are ensuring to provide all assistance, services and safety procedures to all citizens, residents and visitors to Oman.

As the Khareef season has started in Dhofar, the ROP posts have been spread along the road to Dhofar governorate. Police points have been distributed among police emergency, civil defence, and ambulance in 16 locations along the main road (Adam-Thumrait).

The Directorate of Police Aviation is providing air ambulance in cases of emergency and accidents that involve bringing people urgently.

Rescue

Citizens and tourists heading to Dhofar Governorate can ask for any assistance from policemen who are available along the way to their destination. Rescue officers are available in four points: Saih Al Zamayem (Tel. 98999302), Al Ghaften (Tel. 98999303), Qatbit (Tel. 98999304) and Saih Al Khairat (Tel. 98999305)

Civil Defence

Civil Defence officers are present in five points: Saih Al Zamayem (Tel. 98999285), Al Ghaften (Tel. 98999286), Qatbit (Tel. 98999287), Saih Al Khairat (Tel. 98999289), and Police headquarter in Al Wusta region (Tel. 23436099)

Ambulance

Ambulance units are available in seven points: Ghaba (Tel. 98999280), Haima (Tel. 98999281), Al Ghaften (Tel. 98999282), Qatbit (Tel. 98999283), Saih Al Khairat (Tel. 98999284), Thumrait ambulance unit (Tel. 99435951), and Salalah ambulance unit (Tel. 99479463).



Traffic laws and
regulations

Royal Oman Police advises all travellers to Dhofar governorate to abide with the laws and regulations of traffic and to keep with the speed limit. Drivers should also keep an attention to stray animal especially during night times, and to take with them first-aid box.
