Muscat: There is a plan to establish a mountain walk and a special area for street vendors in the Riyam area in the Wilayat of Muscat.

Muscat Municipality published a tender for the construction of a mountain walkway in the Riyam area in the Wilayat of Muscat, and another for the preparation of sites for street vendors, as well as a tender for the construction of internal roads in Al-Misfah Industrial Area in the Wilayat of Bausher.

The municipality has recently announced the Golden Jubilee Walk project, which is a modern walkway designed to harmonise with the surrounding natural elements. It is equipped with various facilities to nourish the residential and commercial neighborhoods.

The first phase of the project will be built in an area of 84,400 m in the middle of a lively area surrounded by residential neighborhoods, commercial facilities and prominent landmarks. It connects dynamic areas full of the spirit of cities "Al-Mawaleh, Al-Hail and Al-Khoudh". The project site is bounded on the north by Maison Street, on the east and west of the Al Mawaleh South neighborhood, and on the south of the central market for vegetables and fruits, and the commercial area adjacent to it.

The project includes a pedestrian walkway with a length of 1,972 metres, the construction of a bicycle path with a length of 1,972 metres, and the construction of three yards (PLAZA) for rest and hiking (implemented by local investment companies). Cultivation of green spaces along 38,250 metres, construction of two sites equipped for physical sports, and two areas for children’s games. Construction of 75 canopies for the visitors of the project, and 140 parking lots for vehicles, and two toilets are also planned. The site will also accommodate restaurants, cafes, and shops.

It is hoped that the implementation of the project will start during the middle of the year 2022 and be completed during the month of April 2023.
