Oman, Morocco ink agreement on documentation

Rabat: The Sultanate of Oman and the sisterly Kingdom of Morocco on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the field of historic documentation, as well as management of documents and archives.
The MoU was signed from the Omani side by Dr. Hamad bin Mohammed Al Dhoyani, Chairman of the National Records and Archives Authority (NRAA) whilst it was signed from the Moroccan side by Jamaa Baida Director of the National Moroccan Archives.
Signing the MoU comes within the framework of the official visit of the NRAA Chairman and his accompanying delegation to the Kingdom of Morocco to promote cooperation between the two countries in areas that serve documents and archives sector.
The MoU also comes as part of the NRAA endeavours to achieve an integrated system of cooperation with domestic and foreign institutions in a bid to contribute in supporting its policy and achieving its vision.
On the sidelines of signing the MoU, Dr. Hamad Al Dhoyani, NRAA Chairman met with Abdel-ilah Afifi, Secretary General at the Moroccan Ministry of Culture and Communication in the presence of Abdullah bin Obaid al-Hinai, Sultanate’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco within the framework of activating the MoU and strengthening relations, as well as sharing information and experience between the two brotherly countries.
Dr. Al Dhoyani viewed the Moroccan experience in management of documents and archives, besides organising visits to technical divisions at the Moroccan Archives.
Dr. AlDhoyani presented the Sultanate’s experience in management, organisation and building documents system, as well as the NRAA programmes and plans in upgrading documents field in the Sultanate of Oman.
The visit’s programme of Dr. Al Dhoyani and his accompanying delegation will include the National Library of Morocco
and the Royal Documents Department.
