Outward Bound Oman sharpens job market skills of students

Muscat: More than 1,100 students have taken part in outdoor educational courses organised by Outward Bound Oman (OBO), the organisation said.
Over the last four years, 1,130 students have taken part in OBO’s ‘Skills for Life’ and ‘Next Generation’ educational courses, which are funded by BP Oman’s Social Investment Programme with the aim of imparting valuable knowledge to the young participants and preparing them for the job market.
The last course marks a milestone in the collaboration between BP and Outward Bound Oman.
“Outward Bound Oman has time and again, through its initiatives, proven the importance of courses that impart valuable knowledge to our youth and prepare them for the job market,” said Shamsa Al Rawahi, BP Oman’s Social Investment Programme Manager.
“We are extremely grateful that BP Oman has chosen to invest in the development of young people in Oman by supporting Outward Bound,” said Mark Evans, General Manager of OBO.
Every year, BP Oman organises the programme by carefully selecting students from schools from as wide a geographic range as possible, at the same time making sure that specialist or special needs groups are included in the mix. Over the past four years, Outward Bound Oman has worked on behalf of BP Oman with students coming all the way from Musandam to Al Buraimi and Sharqiyah. Its courses have also been tailored to suit the needs of deaf students, those recovering from drug use, SME owners, as well as girls from schools in the interiors.
