Oman share index ends higher

Muscat: Earnings announcements lifted the MSM30 Index, which gained 0.36 per cent to close at 4,456.76 points. MSM Sharia Index ended lower at 634.74 points, down 0.06 per cent. Al Madina Takaful was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. Sunday's top gainer was Construction Materials, up 20.00 per cent while the top loser was Open Fisheries, which dropped 9.52 per cent.
A total number of 460 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR1.69 million with more than 11.5 million shares changing hands. Out of 29 traded securities, 10 advanced, 9 declined and 10 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani Investors were net buyers for OMR331,000 while Foreign investors were net sellers for OMR253,000 followed by the GCC & Arab investors for OMR78,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index advanced 0.68 per cent to close at 6,873.75 points. Al Madina Investments, HSBC Bank, DBIH, Oman & Emirates Holding and Al Madina Takaful increased 6.82 per cent, 4.46 per cent, 3.37 per cent, 2.78 per cent and 2.20 per cent respectively. DIDIC, Al Anwar Holding, Al Sharqia Investments and United Finance were down by 5.23 per cent, 3.57 per cent, 3.51 per cent and 2.00 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index retreated 0.36 per cent to finish at 5,847.69 points. Construction Materials and National Aluminium gained 20.00 per cent and 3.85 per cent. Oman Fisheries and Galfar Engineering declined 9.52 per cent and 1.05 per cent respectively.
Services Sector Index ended at 2,405.34 points, up 0.07 per cent. Renaissance Services, up 4.27 per cent, was the sole sector gainer. Al Suwadi Power, OIFC and Omantel decreased 4.13 per cent, 0.93 per cent and 0.56 per cent respectively.
