Dhofar Khareef to start from 20 June

Dubai: The Sultanate of Oman is taking part in the 31st edition of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2024, the leading global event for the travel and tourism sector, which kicked off on MOnday under the theme “Empowering Innovation - Transforming Travel through Entrepreneurship”.

The 4-day event is organised in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Oman’s delegation is headed by Azzan Qassim Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism.

Oman is represented at the event by 36 establishments from the government and private sectors, including small and medium enterprises, said Al Busaidi.

Al Busaidi told reporters that Oman’s participation is aimed at exploring the most prominent developments in the field of travel and tourism.

The event offers an opportunity to meet representatives of the largest number of international companies and institutions and seek chances of cooperation with them with the aim of increasing the number of tourists to Oman.

A press conference was held during the event to outline events and activities of the three-month Dhofar Khareef (monsoon season) 2024. Dr. Ahmed Mohsen Al Ghassani, Chairman of Dhofar Municipality, said that the Dhofar Khareef will last for 90 days from 20 June and to 20 September 2024.

Dhofar Khareef 2024 will focus this year on international events, including the First Dhofar International Theatre Festival, to be outlined later, said Al Ghassani.

One of the most important developments is that the Dhofar Municipality will begin rotating events in its sites rather than repeat events for more than two years, said Al Ghassani, noting that Atteen Square will continue to take centre-stage for tourism events.

The Sultanate of Oman’s pavilion at the exhibition hosts Dhofar Municipality, the Arab Tourism Organization, Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran), Oman Airports Company and the national travel operatorVisitOman. It will also showcase products from Oman Botanical Garden, Oman Across the Ages Museum, the National Museum, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Musandam Governorate, and a number of tourism and hotel companies and establishments. -ONA
