MUSCAT: The ninth edition of QOMRA week at the College of Engineering campus titled “Manifestation”, organised by the National University of Science and Technology, was inaugurated recently.

The photography exhibition is organised by QOMRA (the photography club).

The inauguration ceremony was held under the auspices of Sayyid Said bin Sultan Al Busaidi, the Undersecretary of Culture at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.

A total of 343 entries in total from 96 photographers were received, of which the works of 32 photographers were shortlisted and are on display at the exhibition.

The exhibition showcases 40 photographs with varying styles and symbolising various aspects. Ghalib Al Hadabi, Ahad Al Alawi and Al Yaqdhan Al Darmaki secured the first, second and third place respectively after being chosen by the visitors.

Ahad Al Alawi, a student at Sultan Qaboos University, said: “My passion for photography thrives alongside my academic pursuits. As an active member of the university’s photo society, I owe them immense gratitude for opportunities to develop my skills.”

One project, “Behind the Curtain,” secured second place at the National University Photography Week.

The photo portrays a ballet dancer backstage, wrestling with anticipation and anxiety. Monochromatic tones highlight her raw emotions, blurring the line between stage fright and artistic expression.

Taken a year ago, it captures the enigmatic struggle between self-doubt and passion, a testament to my artistic vision and commitment to human experience.”

QOMRA week is in part of the activities conducted by the QOMRA club which showcases their commitment to the society.
