Oman's Ministry of Commerce and Industry launches e-export, import service

Muscat: An electronic service through the single window “Bayan” by which companies seeking permits for export or import can get the service electronically was launched by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with the Directorate General of Customs at the Royal Oman Police (ROP) on Tuesday.
The service can be accessed via the website www.customs.gov.om or through the smart phone application “Bayan”. The service aims at facilitating the procedures for companies and helping them process their transactions electronically, thus eliminating the need to come to the Ministry’s premises.
Talal Hamoud Al Balushi, Head of Commercial Licences at the Commercial Affairs Administration at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said that companies seeking export or import permit should register at “Bayan” website, select the import/export service, fill the data required, such as the type and number of items and then attach a letter addressed to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry alongside with the sample of signature.
The official at the Commercial Affairs Administration will then approve the application electronically once requirements are met.
