With the government announcing Isra’a Wal Miraj holiday, it continued to dominate the news agenda this week in Oman.

2. The story of Indian nurse Chikku Robert who was murdered in Salalah on April 20 was the second best read story. Robert, a nurse from the south Indian state of Kerala, was found dead in her apartment in Salalah with stab marks on her body.
3. From April 29th, more than 1.5 million expats residing in Oman require an e-visa to enter UAE either by road or air. This was the third best read story online. Speaking exclusively to Times of Oman, Captain Khalil Ibrahim, General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, said that effective April 29, 2016 all GCC residents/permit holders will need to pre-apply for an on-line visa prior to their travel to UAE.
4. A 22-year-old man allegedly killed his 45-year-old mother by hitting her on the head with a brick, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) revealed on social media. This was the fourth best read story of the week.
5. Forty-five expatriates of different Asian nationalities were arrested on charges of consuming alcohol publicly, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) reported. This was the fifth best read story online.
