#OmanPride: Oman’s Royal Cavalry participates in the Queen’s 90th birthday bash

Muscat: Ten arduous months of training paid off in just four minutes for the Royal Cavalry of Oman at the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations.
The Cavalry was among 900 horses which performed at the gala concert for the Queen’s 90th birthday in the grounds of Windsor Castle.
In the four minute colourful display, the horsemen and women put up a rousing show for the Queen, where the first riders stormed into the arena standing on their saddles before breaking off into different formations.

Towards the end of the show, the Omani band played Happy Birthday on the bagpipes and wished HRH a wonderful birthday.
The Royal Cavalry prepared for the celebratory performance for over 10 months.
The event’s organiser, Simon Brooks-Ward, told the Telegraph, “The Omanis performed in front of the Queen Elizabeth II on a state visit there in 2010 and were extremely well received.

“As a result, we invited them to England for the Diamond Jubilee Pageant in 2012. They provide a performance the like of which British audiences rarely see,” he added.
Horses and their riders came from as far as Chile, Canada and Azerbaijan to perform impressive stunts for The Queen. In 2010, the British Queen was hosted by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, when she toured the country.
