Cricket: Spark CT crowned champions

Muscat: Spark CT defeated Cheema CT via Super Over to clinch the Super 9 Cricket Tournament Trophy organised by the Rising Star Cricket Team at Gubrah Power Plant ground.
Thirteen teams participated in the knock-out tournament, which witnessed a thrilling final.
Earlier in the first semifinal Spark CT beat Klair CT by four wickets. Klair CT scored 29 for 2 in 4 overs, while Spark CT eased to 30 for 3 in 3.4 overs.
In 2nd semifinal Cheema CT beat Abu Maather by 30 runs. Cheema CT scored 42 for 3 in 4 overs and then bowled out Abu Maather for 12 runs.
In the final after winning the toss Cheema CT scored 32 for 5 in 4 overs and Spark CT replied with 32 for 3 in 4 overs.
In the Super Over Spark CT scored 14 runs by Cheema CT could manage only 3 runs. Man of the final was Akbar Shaikh.
The final was witnessed by Chief Guest Dad Mohammed Al Balushi, Oman Cricket board member, who gave away the trophies and awards.
The guests of honour were Rajan Nair, Azra Aleem, Aleem Anis, Kalim Khot and Abdullah Deshmukh.
Following won the Individuals awards: Best Batsman — Shami of Cheema, Best Bowler — Ishtiyaq of Cheema. Player of the tournament — Sachin Hegde of Spark CT.
