Muscat Municipality trains new health inspectors in food monitoring

Muscat: A programme conducted by the Muscat Municipality yesterday under the title “monitoring food and establishment for beginners” saw 27 new health inspectors taking the course in the wilayat.
The course will take 25 hours and is spread over five days.
The programme aims at equipping the new food and safety inspectors with important talents and knowledgeable experience related to their field of work as well as the health standards which should be applied to food establishments (restaurants), including the basics of preserving the safety and edibility of food along with guaranteeing it is free from pollutants.
During the course, the inspector will learn and understand the “food safety” terminology as well as understand food poisoning, its causes, symptoms, and preventive measures.
They will also discuss food pollutants and their effect on human health as well as learn about their responsibilities, the food supervisor’s responsibility, safe ways of distributing food, and disposing waste, in addition to several other topics related to their profession.
