Oman's share index falls on thin trading

Muscat: Share prices on the Muscat bourse fell amid thin trading. The MSM30 Index ended lower amid lower trading activity at 5,752.11 points, down by 0.18 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index declined by 0.23 per cent to close at 879.03 points. Oman Fisheries was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover. The top gainer was United Finance, up by 1.94 per cent while National Financewas the top loser, down by 4.35 per cent.
As many as 450 trades were executed on Tuesday, generating turnover of OMR1.39 million with 7.47 million shares changing hands. Out of 38 traded securities, three advanced, 14 declined and 21 remained unchanged. Omani investors switched to net buyers for OMR367,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR317,000 followed by GCC and Arab investors for OMR50,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 7,359.68 points, down by 0.25 per cent. United Finance remained as the sector gainer and was up by 1.94 per cent to close at OMR0.158. National Finance, Taageer Finance, Dhofar Investment and Al Sharqiya Investment Holding declined by 4.35 per cent, 2.54 per cent, 2.50 per cent and 2.29 per cent, respectively.
Industrial Index down by 0.21 per cent to end at 7,401.12 points. Oman Fisheries and Voltamp Energy were up by 1.64 per cent and 0.89 per cent, respectively. Oman Cement, Galfar Engineering and Jazeera Steel Product declined by 1.70 per cent, 0.96 per cent and 0.86 per cent, respectively.
Services Index closed at 3,137.94 points, down by 0.06 per cent. OIFC and Al Suwadi Power fell by 0.50 per cent each, respectively.
