Mwasalat transports 20,000 passengers on day one of Eid Al Adha in Oman

Muscat: Twenty thousand passengers were transported on the first day of Eid Al Adha, the highest number in the history of ‘Mwasalat,’ Oman’s national transport company.
During the full holiday period, more than 48,000 commuters travelled by the most popular Ruwi-Maabelah route, according to data with Mwasalat. Ruwi-Wadi Kabir followed with more than 21,000 passengers while Ruwi-Al Amerat witnessed more than 20,000 travellers. More than 16,000 passengers opted for a bus journey between Ruwi and Muscat, followed by the Khoud-SQU-Al Sahwa Tower route that more than 8,000 passengers took.
The Ruwi-WadiAdayroute registered over 7,000 passengers.
During the nine-day holiday, Mwasalat transported 123,000 passengers in total.
Similarly, during Eid Al Fitr, Mwasalat transported over 18,000 passengers on the first day. During the five-day holiday, more than 72,000 people registered to travel on their buses.

“The company urges everyone, particularly the citizens, to use the means of public transportation as these were economically cheaper, environmental-friendly and have a certain social significance,” said Mwasalat.
“The public transportation means encourage a sense of social integration and make it feasible to disseminate social awareness among various age groups and categories, such as the elderly, students and those with special needs,” Mwasalat added.
