Brisk turnout at Omani products' expo in Iran

Muscat: Omani Products Exhibition (Opex), which was inaugurated on Monday in Tehran, is witnessing a good turnout of Iranian investors and business owners.
Nasima Al Balushi, Ithraa’s director general of Export Development and member of Opex Organising Committee, informed that latest statistics indicate an increase exceeding 90 per cent in the non-oil Omani exports to Iran in 2015 compared to 2014.
On the participation of Ithraa at Opex in Iran, Nasima said, "Ithraa is participating as part of the organising committee of this event. We are introducing and briefing the visitors to the services offered to Omani exporters and the most promising products that can be exported to Iran and the neighbouring markets. We have received significant enquiries from Iranian businessmen on these products and the list of Omani exporters registered in Ithraa."
According to Mohamed Al Jabri, head of marketing at the Export Credit Guarantee Agency (ECGA) of Oman, the agency is taking part at Opex in accordance with its commitment to stimulate and promote Oman’s non-oil exports by providing credit guarantee covers for the Omani exporters.
He said that the main aim is to reduce risks and hence create wider opportunities to increase exports to foreign markets. Day two of the event witnessed B2B meetings between Omani industrialists and their Iranian counterparts to discuss potential bilateral business opportunities.
It should be noted that the participating Omani firms are representing various industries including natural resources, minerals, wood products, manufacturing products, furniture, food, medical and pharmaceuticals, fertilisers, plastic and metal equipment, perfume, leather, and logistics; in addition to a number of government bodies, and small and medium enterprises.
Opex is organised by a committee comprising the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Export Development (Ithraa), and Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI).
Opex in Iran aspires at enhancing business relations between the Sultanate and Iran, highlighting the high quality Omani products to the visitors, exploring the dynamic market of Iran, and getting acquainted with the manufacturing, investment and export opportunities in Iran and the neighboring markets.
The event presents a perfect platform for Iranian importers, agents, distributors, re-exporters of products with an excellent opportunity to meet, network and sign up with the exporters directly.
