Forum to highlight investment opportunities in Oman

Muscat: A forum to highlight investment opportunities and privatisation programmes in Oman – Outlook Oman – will be held under the auspices of Dr Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidi, minister of commerce and industry on October 24.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with MEED, will organise the forum at Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa.
The forum aims at casting light on investment opportunities in the Sultanate and creating a platform for the public organisations to showcase their privatisation plans and programmes, communicate with the private sector and investors aboutprivatisation of assets, as well as the measures to be taken.
It will also discuss in details the developments that affect the Omani economy and will review the expansion plans of water, electricity, public transport and communication infrastructure sectors.
The one-day forum will also highlight the initiatives taken to promote tourism industry including the opening of a new terminal at Oman International Airport this year and the expansion of Oman Air’s network.
The forum will also give an overview about the $209 billion worth projects. The speakers will highlight the progress made by the Sultanate in industry sectors, non-oil service, housing and property projects and the expansions in education and healthcare.
The Minister of Commerce and Industry will deliver a speech where he will review the main features of the Omani economy with an overview on the prioritised sectors for investment, as well as the available local and international funding.
Hamoud bin Sangour Al Zedjali, executive president of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO), along with 25 speakers from the government and business sector will give speeches.
Public and private officials, as well as investors, operators and developers for the privatization programmes, legal advisors and financial institutions will take part in the forum.
