Oman Cricket: Wasim-Paritosh record stand helps ISM humble PSM

Muscat: Record setting Wasim Ali and Paritosh Bhatt helped Indian School Muscat (ISM) to a massive 233-run victory over Pakistan School Muscat (PSM) in the Khimji Ramdas-sponsored Under-19 Junior Division cricket league at the Ministry of Sports Affairs Ground II on Friday.
Batting first, ISM put on a mammoth 414 for the loss of six wickets in 50 overs. The ISM’s huge total was built on a record third-wicket partnership of 357 runs between the two Oman national U-19 team players, Wasim Ali and Paritosh Bhatt.
Wasim Ali, who led the Sultanate squad at the recent ICC U-19 World Cup Asia Qualifier Division 2 competition in Malaysia, smashed a double ton while Paritosh, his deputy at the same event, also completed a century scoring 137 runs. While their third-wicket partnership of 357 is the highest in the history of Oman junior cricket, Wasim Ali now owns two other records thanks to his 203-run knock -- the first double century and the highest individual score of the junior cricket in the Sultanate.
Wasim Ali, in fact, went on to shine with the ball as well claiming four wickets in just 6.2 overs as the Pakistan School Muscat were bundled out for 181 runs in 35.2 overs. For PSM, Mohammed Nawaz was the top scorer with 37 runs.
