Oman Hockey: Champions Ahli-Sidab edge past resurgent Bausher

Muscat: Defending champions Ahli-Sidab Club sneaked to a 4-3 win over Bausher Club in His Majesty's Cup Hockey Championship 2016 at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher on Tuesday.
Coached by K.K. Poonacha, Ahli-Sidab found a stronger Bausher Club on Tuesday bolstered by Pakistan players Mohammed Tauseeq Arshad and Ali Shaan.
The champions began well with Ammar Juma Al Shuaibi scoring a brace in the first 30 minutes, but found their lead cut by one goal as Bausher struck back through Mohammed Tauseeq.
The tense action continued in the latter part with Ahli-Sidab striking through Ashraf Al Nasri and Salah Al Saadi, who connected a cross from Nanniah Ganapati.
Bausher too made a match out of it with Mohammed Tauseeq and Ali Hamad Al Hasni striking the target.
Meanwhile, there has been an influx of hockey players from Pakistan with Seeb Club hiring Mohammed Rizwan, Tasawar Abbas and Ijaz Ahmed.
Sohar Club too have boosted their line-up with the addition of Ihsan Ullah Khan and Mohammed Zubair, while Mushtaq, Adnan and Irfan have boosted Salalah Club.
Former Pakistan captain Mohammed Imran has bolstered Dhofar Club, while Imran Butt, Aleem Bilal and Umar Bhutia have joined Al Nasr Club.
Meanwhile, Ahli-Sidab is also planning to boost their team by recruiting Indian players by the second round. The team, however, have two Muscat-based Indian players in Pradhan Somanna and Nannaiah.
Ahli-Sidab will next play Seeb on Thursday while Sohar will take on Bausher on the same day.
