In a closely-contested semifinal tie, Oman overcame hosts Morocco for 2-1 to book a place in the final, where the Sultanate squad were scheduled play Tunisia.
The result assured Oman of a medal in the team championship to add to the women’s singles gold and women’s doubles bronze earlier.
Oman began their semifinal against Morocco in style with Fatma Al Nabhani defeating Lilia Hadab 6-1, 6-4 in the first singles.
In the second singles, though, Oman suffered a reverse as young Mariam Al Balushi was handed a 6-1, 6-0 defeat by Lamia Aziz.
In the deciding doubles rubber, Fatma combined well with Sara Al Balushi to subdue the challenge of Diae El Jerdi and Salma Ziouti for a 6-4, 4-6, 10-4 victory and a place in the gold medal match.
